When you’re done visiting all the museums and religious places in Rome, make some time and go shopping.
Rome is home to many designer brands of clothing, bags, shoes and apparels, such as Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Versace, D&G, and Valentino among others.
Cola di Rienzo is a popular shopping destination for the Romans. Both small and spacious shops sell clothes, bags, shoes, and accessories of good quality and reasonable prices. It’s is a good place to take a stroll, especially on weekends.
For designer labels, one of the most elegant streets and one of the best streets to shop in Rome is between the Piazza di Spagna and Via del Corso. The Via dei Condotti is where you will find designer stores such as Armani, Prada, Versace, Gucci, Valentino, Hermes, and others. It’s expensive to shop here. If the prices are outside of your desired budget, at least walk around and admire the beautiful window displays.
Shop owners used to charge people for just walking in the door. Thank goodness, they put a stop to that.
If you’re traveling with your teenagers, the Via del Corso is a good place to take them. Many shops are targeted for younger crowd. It is cheaper than the Cola di Rienzo, though the quality of clothes is not as good in some stores.
The Via del Corso is home to famous shops including the Ferrari flagship store and the Swarowski Crystal.
At Piazza Navona, you can find second hand stores that sell some vintage clothing and Levi jeans and shabby chic stuff. It is a great place for art enthusiasts. They have a lot of art galleries and antique shops.
The Plaza Vittorio is where you’ll find variety of fresh fruits, fish, food and meat offered by people from all walks of life.
It you like negotiating prices, the Trastevere is the place where you can find local trasteverians bargaining with local Roman vendors.
These places are the most renown shopping areas in Rome. So if you decide to shop while you’re in Rome, stop by these areas and check it out.
Please be cautious, there are a lot of pickpockets in Rome. As with any location, make sure your valuables are secured when you walk around in public spaces.
